4 dead, 18 rescued as traveller fell into gorge in Kullu

Four people were killed and 18 injured after a traveller vehicle carrying 22 passengers fell off the road near Sojha in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district. Rescue operations are underway, with all injured admitted to CH Banjar hospital for treatment.

At least four people died on Saturday after a traveller vehicle carrying about 22 passengers met with an accident near Soja in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, news agency ANI reported.

Out of the remaining passengers, 18 were rescued and taken to a hospital nearby, local authorities informed.

Deputy Commissioner Anurag Chander Sharma confirmed the deaths and said that the rescue operations were on the way.

“As per information received by the Police Control Room Kullu, a traveller vehicle met with an accident near Sojha after falling off the road. A total of 22 persons were on board, including 20 adults and two children,” he said.

“Out of these, 18 persons have been rescued and shifted to CH Banjar for treatment. Four casualties have been reported so far, including two male and two female,” he added.

Rescue operations and verification search is still underway at the site, to ensure that everyone is found and no one remains unaccounted for.

“The Administration, Police, Revenue Department, Fire Services, and Health Department jointly carried out the rescue operation, and local residents also played a prompt and commendable role,” he further said.

The condition of the injured is being monitored at CH Banjar, where they are undergoing treatment. Authorities have assured that all necessary medical assistance is being provided.
