Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Addis Ababa for a two-day State visit to Ethiopia at the invitation of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, who personally welcomed him at the airport.

In a rare and personal gesturem, the Ehiopian PM also drove PM Modi to the hotel himself. During the journey, he made a special initiative to take PM Modi to the Science Museum and Friendship Park. These stops were not part of the official itinerary.
Additionally, members of the Indian community in Ethiopia warmly welcomed the India Prime by singing the song “Aisa Desh Hai Mera.”

What to expect out of the visit?
The visit is aimed at giving a boost to ties between the two countries, with talks likely to focus on areas like trade, agriculture, education and technology.
During his stay, PM Modi is expected to hold high-level discussions on regional and global issues that matter to both sides. He will also meet members of the Indian community in Ethiopia and speak at a joint business forum. The visit is being seen as an important step in strengthening India’s relationship with Africa’s second-most populous nation.
