At least 15 people were killed and 20 injured after a bus overturned in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district. Rescue teams rushed to the scene, while leaders expressed grief and authorities arranged urgent medical aid, including airlifting critically injured passengers.
At least 15 people have been reported dead and 20 wounded after the bus turned upside down in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning.
The tragic bus accident occurred in the Khagot area of Ramnagar in the district. Authorities rushed multiple ambulances to the scene shortly after being alerted, launching rescue operations immediately.
Several leaders took to social media to share updates and express condolences for those affected by the incident. Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed the accident and stated that he spoke to Udhampur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Minga Sherpa following the accident involving a public transport bus travelling from Ramnagar.
He added that rescue operations were launched and authorities were arranging medical aid for the injured.

“Just now spoke to DC Udhampur, Sh Minga Sherpa after learning about a tragic road accident, less than an hour ago, at village Kanote, involving a public transport bus on way from Ramnagar to Udhampur. The rescue operation has been immediately undertaken. Heavy casualties are expected. All possible assistance is being provided. The injured will be shifted for medical aid,” the Union Minister tweeted.

BJP further notified that further arrangements for the airlifting of the ones infrared were being made.
“Arrangements being made to airlift the seriously injured. I am in constant touch with the local administration as well as our local workers team led by Sh Rajinder Sharma,” he added.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed deep sorrow over the tragic bus accident in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, saying the loss of precious lives in the incident is deeply painful.

Further, J&K Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha condoled the deaths of passengers in the tragic accident, calling the incident “heartbreaking” and extending condolences to the bereaved families. The LG also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
