He died at his residence in Satwa, leaving behind a legacy that is closely tied to the growth of Dubai’s commercial sector. Members of the business community and the Indian diaspora have expressed sorrow at his passing.

Shroff was among the early generation of entrepreneurs who witnessed Dubai’s transformation from a modest trading hub into a global business centre. Known for his sharp business sense, Shroff played a key role in shaping the emirate’s textile trade.

According to a Khaleej Times report, Shroff passed away between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM at his home. Funeral services are scheduled to take place today at around 4.30 PM at the New Sonapur cemetery in Dubai. The family has requested privacy during this time and noted that the cremation will be attended by men only.

Humble beginnings

Born in India, Shroff arrived in Sharjah from Mumbai by boat in 1960, at a time when the region was still known as the Trucial States. He later moved to Dubai and started his own business.

He founded Regal Traders, starting with a single retail textile store. Through his dedication, hard work and strong business acumen, he expanded the company into a network of 16 stores and five offices spread across multiple countries. His focus on quality fabrics and customer trust helped establish his brand as a leading name in the industry.

Pioneer in Dubai’s textile trade

Shroff is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Dubai’s textile sector. His efforts contributed significantly to the early commercial growth of the emirate. Over the years, he earned immense respect not only for his business success but also for his leadership within the Indian community in the UAE.

Tributes have poured in following his death. Prominent business leaders described him as a visionary who helped lay the foundation of Dubai’s thriving trading ecosystem.

Philanthropy and community service

Beyond business, Shroff was deeply committed to philanthropy. He supported several educational and community institutions, including The Indian High School in Dubai and the India Club. His contributions extended to healthcare, education, and religious initiatives across different countries.

According to a report in The Financial Express, he was also working on an ambitious project to help build 101 temples worldwide, reflecting his strong cultural and community values.

Vasu Shroff’s life story remains an example of determination, vision, and generosity. His contributions continue to shape Dubai’s business landscape and will be remembered for years to come.
