BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, who defeated Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur, was on Friday named as the next chief minister of West Bengal.
“Suvendu will be the new CM of West Bengal”, Amit Shah announced after a meeting with newly elected BJP MLAs.

According to a PTI report, citing BJP sources, Adhikari’s name was proposed at the legislature party meeting in the presence of newly elected BJP MLAs and senior party leaders.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP government will be held at Brigade Parade Ground on May 9.
