Amir, a resident of Samboora in Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir, was detained in Delhi after an intensive NIA-led search. The blast vehicle was registered in his name. Investigators say he had travelled to the capital to help arrange the purchase of the car that was later turned into a vehicle-borne IED.

Forensic tests have confirmed that the charred body found inside the car was Dr Umar Un Nabi, an Assistant Professor of General Medicine at Al-Falah University in Faridabad and a resident of Pulwama. The NIA has also seized another vehicle owned by him for examination.

Searches were conducted at Amir’s home in Samboora, and his brother is currently in the custody of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. So far, investigators have questioned 73 witnesses, including several injured in the explosion.
