A video of Dr Umar Nabi, the bomber behind the Delhi blast, has surfaced, where he talks about the “concept” of suicide bombing.
Investigative agencies have said that the video was recorded two months before last week’s explosion. In the video, Nabi can be seen trying to justify suicide bombing, but as per the police, he failed to present a strong case for the act.
According to a report byNews18, an initial probe has found that members of Nabi’s own module did not support the idea of a fidayeen-style attack and had rejected the suicide bombing plan.
“One of the very misunderstood concepts is the concept of what has been labelled as suicide bombing. It is a martyrdom operation, and it is known as that in Islam. There are multiple contraindications, there are multiple arguments that have been brought against it,” Nabi said in the video.

Investigators said the video shows Umar trying to justify suicide attacks by portraying them as acts that are widely “misunderstood” or “misinterpreted.” They added that he opens the recording by claiming the public does not understand what he describes as the “real concept” behind them.
Sources have toldNews18 that Nabi recorded several videos like these, which were supposedly practice clips in which he is trying to build an argument defending suicide attacks.
Who is Umar?
Dr Umar U. Nabi, the son of Gh. Nabi Bhat worked as a doctor at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad. His mother, Shamima Banoo, is originally from Koil in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Born on February 24, 1989, Dr Umar was said to be a close associate of Dr Adeel, another suspect currently under investigation as part of the ongoing terror network probe.
Sources revealed that Umar’s father, a government school teacher suffering from mental health issues, left his job nearly 10–15 years ago. The family includes two brothers and an elder sister; the sister and one brother are married, while the other brother remains unmarried. Police have detained both brothers and their mother for questioning.
Officials suspect that Dr Umar was among a network of medical professionals who were radicalised via encrypted Telegram channels, forming what investigators describe as the “Faridabad module.” He earned his MD in Medicine from Government Medical College, Srinagar, served as a senior resident at GMC Anantnag, and later relocated to Delhi. At the time of the blast, he held the position of Assistant Professor at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad.
