Almost a week after the National Democratic Alliance stormed to victory in the Bihar Assembly election, Janata Dal-United chief Nitish Kumar took the oath of office as chief minister today (November 20).

The oath-taking ceremony was held at Bihar’s Gandhi Maidan and was attended by the who’s who of the alliance, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda.

With today’s swearing-in, 74-year-old
Nitish earns the title of being the state’s longest-serving chief minister — starting today (November 20), he will be beginning his record tenth term.
