Delhi Red Fort blast: NIA takes 4 more prime accused into custody, total held rises to 6

Three of the newly arrested suspects are doctors, while the fourth is a religious preacher

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested four more prime suspects in connection with the
10 November blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, which claimed at least 15 lives and injured several others.

With these arrests, the total number of accused in the case has now risen to six, the agency said in an official statement.

Three of the newly arrested suspects are doctors, while the fourth is a religious preacher. The Patiala House Court granted custody of the accused to the NIA, which took them into custody in Srinagar. “All four played a key role in the terror attack that killed several innocent persons and left many others injured,” the agency added.

The accused have been identified as Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai from Pulwama (J&K), Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather from Anantnag (J&K), Dr Shaheen Saeed from Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay from Shopian (J&K). Earlier, the NIA had arrested Amir Rashid Ali and Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, both of whom were linked to the explosives-laden i20 used in the blast and the attempted recruitment of a potential suicide bomber.
