Does Pakistan International Airlines now fly balloons? Army seized one PIA written on it in Akhnoor

Security forces seized a balloon bearing “PIA” markings in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector as authorities also reported a separate sighting of a Pakistani drone near the International Border.

Indian Army personnel seized a balloon bearing markings linked to Pakistan in the Akhnoor area of Jammu, prompting an investigation into how it entered Indian territory. The recovery comes amid heightened vigilance along the International Border following reports of aerial activity from across the border.

Balloon recovered in Akhnoor

Officials said the balloon was found in the Pragwal area of Akhnoor. It had ‘Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)’ written on it in both English and Urdu. The Army has taken custody of the balloon and is examining the circumstances under which it drifted into the area. No immediate details were available on its origin or purpose.

Drone sighting in Samba district

In an earlier incident, officials confirmed that a Pakistani drone was sighted over a forward village along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on November 22, 2025. Security agencies are assessing the sighting as part of ongoing monitoring efforts along the border.
