J&K: 10 soldiers killed, 10 injured after Army vehicle falls into gorge in Bhaderwah area

An bullet-proof Army vehicle accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Khanntop area plunged into a gorge. Rescue operations are underway

Ten soldiers were killed and 10 others injured after an Indian Army vehicle met with a major accident in the Khanntop area along the Bhaderwah–Chamba road in Jammu and Kashmir.

“We have lost 10 soldiers with 10 others injured in the unfortunate accident involving army vehicle,” Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhaderwah, Sumit Kumar Bhutyal told PTI.

Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh took to X to express his shock over the incident.

He wrote, “Just now spoke to DC Doda, Harvinder Singh. Deeply shocked to learn about the tragic accident of an Army vehicle on Bhaderwah – Chamba road, in which 10 Jawans lost their life and another 10 seriously injured, who have been shifted to Command Hospital Udhampur. Also spoken to Major General (Dr) Sanjay Sharma, Incharge Command Hospital, who is providing me regular updates. All possible medical aid being provided. No words are enough to convey deep sense of reverence for our brave Jawans. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families.”

Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed their sorrow over the tragic accident.

The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the soldiers who died and wished a quick recovery to the injured. He also lauded the prompt and efficient rescue and evacuation operations.

Sinha, in a post onX, said he was “deeply saddened at the loss of lives of 10 of our brave Indian Army soldiers in an unfortunate road accident in Doda. We will always remember the outstanding service and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers.” He expressed his deepest condolences to the grieving families.

“In this moment of profound sorrow, the entire nation stands united with the bereaved families in solidarity and support. 10 injured soldiers have been airlifted to the hospital,” he said, adding that he had instructed senior officials to ensure best possible treatment to those injured. “Praying for their speedy recovery,” he said.
