He also extended his best wishes for their continued safety and well-being. His remarks came soon after reports confirmed that a suspect had attempted to breach security at the venue but was quickly stopped by law enforcement.
The Prime Minister strongly condemned the act, stressing that violence has no place in a democratic society.
Message against violence
The PM underlined the importance of upholding democratic values and ensuring safety at public gatherings. “Violence has no place in a democracy and must be unequivocally condemned,” he said, sending a clear message against such incidents.
Shots fired at White House Correspondents’ Dinner
Earlier, Trump and other dignitaries were rushed out of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after shots were fired in the area. In the videos circulating online, Trump and the guests were seen taking cover after a loud noise was heard in the area.
Neither the president nor the vice president was injured in the incident. Secret Service agents quickly responded after shots rang out, leaping onto the dais and escorting the President away from the scene.
While the suspect was intercepted before causing large-scale harm, the incident has raised fresh questions about security at high-profile gatherings.
