On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, India’s top military leadership is set to review and brief on the 2025 cross-border strikes on Pakistan
On the upcoming anniversary of Operation Sindoor, the former Director General of Operations will address a press conference with the key figures in the military top brass. All three officers who were part of the operational duties of Operation Sindoor and involved in taking key decisions during the operation will also participate in the briefing on 7 May. The Chief of Defence Staff, along with all service chiefs, vice chiefs, and senior commanders, will be meeting in Jaipur to discuss key challenges and operational aspects on the first anniversary of the operation.
CNN-News18 reports that the top commanders will deliberate on the operational aspects of the Indian military and future prospects. The meeting comes at a time when India’s military leadership is also discussing the proposed theatre commands—one each for Pakistan, China, and the maritime domain.
Operation Sindoor commenced on 7 May 2025, when India launched a decisive, targeted strike on Pakistan as part of a military campaign. The operation was a response to the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025, in which 26 civilians were killed.
On 7 May, India launched Operation Sindoor, carrying out missile strikes on terror infrastructure linked to Pakistan-based militant groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
Following these strikes, border clashes and drone attacks escalated between the two countries. The Pakistan Army retaliated with mortar shelling in Jammu, resulting in civilian deaths and damage to homes and religious sites. After four days of military conflict, both India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire following hotline communication between their Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) on 10 May 2025.
