The central government of India has appointed Lieutenant General N S Raja Subramani as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
Lieutenant Subramani will be succeeding the current army chief, General Anil Chauhan, after he completes his tenure on May 30.
The new CDS will also serve as Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Military Affairs, from the day he assumes charge.
