In a video shared by FOX & Friends, Mamdani is asked what he would say to the British monarch if they were to meet. He responds that he would not offer any special “royal treatment” and instead would ask the King to return the Kohinoor diamond.
“If I were to speak to the King separately from that, I’d probably encourage him to return the Kohinoor diamond,” Mamdani said, in remarks that quickly drew attention online and in political circles.
