In a development along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector, the Indian Army and police recovered a bag full of dangerous materials that had been dropped by a Pakistani drone on Thursday.
Officials say the unmanned aerial vehicle crossed over from Pakistan into Indian airspace and lingered for more than five minutes before dropping its payload near Rangar Nallah and the Poonch River in the Chakkan Da Bagh area, a spot regularly monitored by Indian troops, as reported by CNN News18.
What was in the drop?
Inside the bag, the Indian Army personnel found a troubling mix of items officials believe were meant to aid terror groups in the region: an IED (Improvised Explosive Device), ammunition and narcotics.

Once the bag was found by troops in the forward area, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a large-scale search operation around the drop site to make sure there were no additional packages or accomplices nearby.
Security forces have been on alert for such drone-related activity along the LoC and International Border, where Pakistani drones have been spotted in recent years carrying weapons, ammunition, and drugs across the border.
These kinds of aerial drops have been a recurring challenge, with past recoveries near the LoC and even in border districts like Akhnoor and Samba. Authorities have also offered rewards for information leading to seizure of these illegal drone drops.
