A fire in a plastic warehouse in Rohini spread rapidly to nearby huts, leaving three people dead
A fire in a warehouse in the Mangeram Park area of Delhi’s Rohini claimed three lives in the early hours of Wednesday after breaking out around 1.30 am, with firefighters responding swiftly to a distress call.
Three people died after sustaining severe burn injuries in the incident. Sources said the deceased include one man, one woman and a child aged around two years.
Blaze spreads from warehouse to nearby huts
Officials stated that the fire began in a plastic warehouse. Close to the site, several residents were living in makeshift shanties on a vacant plot and were working as scrap collectors. The flames spread quickly from the warehouse to these huts, intensifying the situation.
The fire broke out suddenly late at night and escalated into a large blaze within minutes. Due to its rapid spread, those present had very little time to respond or move to safety.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by around 4.00 am Seven fire tenders were deployed, and teams worked for several hours to contain the flames.
Authorities have not yet identified the exact cause of the fire. The concerned department has begun an investigation and is examining the circumstances that led to the incident.
