Amid Iran conflict, India assesses security readiness as Rajnath Singh chairs key defence meet

Rajnath Singh chairs high-level meeting to review India’s defence preparedness amid escalating West Asia conflict, with top military officials assessing risks and planning responses to evolving regional security challenges

India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to assess the country’s security and defence preparedness, as tensions continue to rise in West Asia.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict
involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which has significantly heightened regional instability. Senior defence officials, including top military leadership, attended the review to evaluate the potential implications for India, reported ANI.

The focus was on ensuring that India remains prepared for any spillover effects from the conflict, which has now entered a critical phase.

Among those present were Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force, along with senior officials from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Ministry of Defence.

The discussions centred on assessing the current security environment and strengthening readiness across domains, including land, air and
maritime defence.

Officials reviewed India’s defence posture and preparedness measures in light of rapidly evolving geopolitical developments. The meeting also explored strategic responses to potential risks arising from the widening conflict in West Asia.

Given the region’s importance for global energy supplies and trade routes, any escalation could have far-reaching consequences for India’s security and economy.

While there is no immediate threat to India, the government is maintaining a cautious and proactive stance. The high-level review signals an effort to stay ahead of developments and ensure that the armed forces are ready to respond to any emerging challenges.
